It describes the short story pretty well. Later she then she changes her opinion and decides to keep her baby. A main theme of the short story is partly related to the title. Both the mother and the narrator show themselves from their good-mom-sides and they both show, that they are good parents.

When she talks about herself, she often mentions the words trash and whore. She had a rough childhood with none or very few friends. At the present she has her best friend, Barbie. She never speaks of other persons, other than the ones, who sit on her bench.
The way she thinks of other persons makes her self-esteem way worse. The father of her child was confident with a good figure and the lady on the bench is a very fine woman that both reads books, drinks bottled mineral water and is married.
Her bench is not like that. The very special bench is to the left of the big duck pond. The bench is her favorite and hers only, unless someone consults her first. On the bench she can relax and clear her thoughts. When she sat on it the first time she saw seven black swans gliding together, almost making her cry.
She often comes to the bench but not for socializing or talking. She has a safe-zone there and it never lets her down. In comparison with her childhood, where the other kids would run ahead of her and leave her behind. The language is worst in the start and softens out later on, which follows her development towards a more sensible and responsible mother.
